The Arqus European University Alliance brings together the universities of Granada, Graz, Leipzig, Lyon 1, Maynooth, Minho, Padua, Vilnius, and Wroclaw—nine longstanding comprehensive research universities with extensive experience in joint projects and a shared profile as internationalized institutions deeply engaged in their regional contexts. Arqus aims to build on this strong foundation of cooperation to achieve a high level of integration in the policies and action plans of its member institutions. The alliance focuses on enhancing the education of critically engaged European and global citizens who are committed to contributing to a multicultural, multilingual, and inclusive Europe that is open to the world. It also seeks to increase and strengthen the joint research capacity of its partner universities and to respond more effectively to the major societal challenges of the 21st century, both within Europe and beyond.
