BIRD

The BIRD project is developing a prototype of the vision "Digital Networked Infrastructure for Education" as part of an initiative by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF). The project aims to identify key requirements of the platform call in exchange with stakeholders of the education landscape.

The DiBiHo project ended on 31 December 2022. Some of our project activities will be continued as part of the BIRD – Digital Education Space project.

LTI PSC

The LTI Product Steering Committee (PSC) is a group of 1Edtech member institutions and service providers that direct the Learning Tools Interoperability (LTI) standard. Widely adopted globally in K-12 and higher education, LTI connects learning tools to platforms like learning management systems securely and efficiently. The PSC meets monthly to guide LTI’s development, focusing on practical use cases such as enabling easy tool access for students, supporting grade reporting for teachers, and integrating resources for institutions. With 16 extension specifications, they ensure LTI adapts to educational needs and maintains its broad global use.

Collaborations

The LTI Working Group, convened by the 1EdTech Consortium, brings together developers and architects from major service providers, edtech application companies, and educational institutions to develop the Learning Tools Interoperability (LTI) standard. Adopted globally across K-12, higher education, and lifelong learning, LTI securely and efficiently links learning tools to platforms like learning management systems. The group collaborates to refine LTI, addressing use cases such as providing easy tool access for students, supporting grade reporting for teachers, and integrating resources for institutions. Meeting weekly, they enhance LTI’s 16 extension specifications to meet evolving educational demands and maintain its widespread global use.

Workgroup on OER (Germany)

Collaborations

The OER Information Center (OERinfo) is a topic-specific online portal that provides the public and specialist target groups with comprehensive information on the topic of Open Educational Resources (OER). The aim is to make OER widely visible and to address new target groups. The current state of knowledge on OER is prepared for practical use, information on best practice examples is bundled and the variety of existing initiatives is shown. The OER Information Center supports all those interested in getting started on the topic. The portal also covers the various educational areas - school, training and further education, and university.
