The Core Model Education Information (KOI) is the overarching conceptual (information) model of Dutch education. It describes the generic concepts that occur in the educational world and about which parties in the educational chain talk to each other, store and exchange information. The aim of the KOI is to provide a conceptual starting point to gain insight into the meaning, structure and coherence of the most important concepts in the educational domain. These most important core concepts are generic concepts that have a broadly agreed and widely supported meaning and represent an information subject. A KOI concept comprises a group of concepts that relate to the corresponding information subject. The KOI can be used as a conceptual connecting 'coat rack' to categorise and connect underlying concepts from different information areas.
