Value lists RIO-po

Last modified on ...

Within RIO (Registration of Institutions and Training Courses) there is a canonical information model for primary education (RIO-bo) and special and secondary special education (RIO-so/vso). The following four important lists of values have been recognised:

  • Training characteristics: A distinguishing characteristic of a training course. For example for bo: Montessori, IGBO, bilingual primary education. For example for so and vso: support for visual impairments, support for deafness.
  • Training units: A set of knowledge, insight and skills. For example: primary education, special education, havo (part of vso, but also of vo), labour market (part of vso).
  • Communication contexts: Subject about which the educational institution can be contacted. These apply to almost all the educational domains (areas of operation) mentioned. For example: Funding, Compulsory Education/RMC.
  • Expertises so, vso: Possible forms of assistance that are offered by an expert to teachers and pupils in primary and secondary education. For example: support for visual impairments, support for deafness.
The content of these value lists is partly determined and managed by the education sector, the Education Inspectorate, OCW, DUO, SLO and the PO Council with support from Kennisnet.
The November version does not have any adjustments to the content itself, but the so-called training unit codes (O-codes) have now been added to the training units, with which these training units can be uniquely identified within RIO.
