Unique persistent identifier (UPI)

Last modified on ...

The unique persistent identifier enables systems to permanently combine or separate information from different sources about the same learning resource. The unique persistent identifier enables references to digital objects, regardless of the storage location of these objects. This enables this location to be changed without having to make changes to all links that refer to the object in question.
This includes the five types of identifiers that are permitted. These are Handle, DOI, ISBN, URN and PURL.
