The mandatory Final Test for primary education was introduced in 2015. Since then, there have been various test suppliers who are allowed to administer this final test. As of 2024, this Final Test will change to the Transition Test. The most important change is the earlier administration in February (was April/May). Furthermore, the CET (Central Final Test) will be discontinued and several new transition tests and test suppliers will be added.
An educational provider ("school") or its educational board chooses a specific Transition Test each year, this can differ per year. After registration (October/November), the educational provider makes its participants known to the selected test supplier. This is done via electronic data exchange (m2m) between its own student administration system (LAS) and the test system of the test supplier.
The test supplier administers the Transition Test in February (digitally or on paper). After administration, the results will be available to the test supplier. These are also exchanged between the test system and the LAS via m2m.
